No, No that's not possible!
I can't believe it! I knew they were going to do something like this!! You know how I was talking about "Summer of My German Soldier" right? Well, guess what? They made a movie, about 30 years ago, in the early 80's. And just like every other movie based off a book, it was terribly, horribly, gone wrong!! It only barely followed the plot. The music was ... hideous, and the acting was bad too! ( and the worst part?) ITS IN ARKANSAS, NOT GEORGIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ohhh my gosh. You can tell how mad I am... So that is why I believe that it is my sole duty to make it into an accurate adaptation :]. Who's with me?

Oh looky, a book review!
Hi reader(s)! I finally found something worthy to rant about. A book by Bette Greene, a juvenile fiction author, called "Summer of My German Soldier". I borrowed it from my sister's piano teacher, much obliged :).
SYNOPSIS:
Patty Bergen is a Jewish girl living during World War II, in a little town called Jenkinsville, AR. The mayor has set up a prison camp (no, not like the ones in Euro at the time) in the outskirts of town where one day, a group of German prisoners of war arrive, who are all about twentyish years old. After a few days, they enter her father's store to purchase some hats. Since only one of them speaks English, he acts as translator. They are all trying on their hats when Patty notices that Reiker, the english-speaking one, is moving towards the door, but he stops, examining some pencils. She decides that since nobody is there at the counter, she'll step in. They have a nice chat, and he buys a few things, including a cheapo-glass-diamond ring. She carries on w/ her life, and this is where you learn about her father, mother, sister and housemaid. Her father is abusive, nervous and very very violent. Her mother just ignores her daughter, except the youngest one, which she fawns over like there's no tomorrow. The only friends she has in the world is Freddy, the nextdoor neighbor who her father has banned all contact with, and her black housemaid, Ruth. So anyway, she looks out her window one day, and she sees Reiker jumping off the train. She runs towards him, and they decide he needs somewhere to lay low for a while. She hides him in the empty garage rooms, brining him food and company. However, her family is completely uninformed. Reiker (we'll call him Anton from now on) teaches her, over time, that she is a person of value, and treats her with respect and warmth. She in turn provides a safe hiding spot (although not entirely so), and somebody to talk to. During their conversations, they tell each other about their life goals, he wanting to return to his home town of Gottingen, Germany, and becoming a doctor, she wanting to be loved by her family. He becomes very good friends with Patty, even to the point where he nearly blows his cover (when her father is beating her senseless with a belt) by running out of the garage. Eventually, Ruth finds out and (thankfully) decides to help. But. Things start getting fishy when Patty is taken to be interrogated by the FBI, and news about some escaped German saboteurs goes around. Anton decides that it isn't safe to be there any more, and he must make his grand escape. She is obviously distraught and in the final moment before he smuggles himself onto the train, he gives her a kiss and his heirloom ring. Months later, she is asked about the ring, and she answers with a lie about an old tramp and food. But then!! A very wily guy asks her about it, giving a picture as well. Turns out, the picture is of Anton. He also shows her the blue shirt she gave Anton, with a little rip and purple spots. And when the FBI guy reads out that he was shot and killed while trying to run away, she screams "MURDERER!!" and tries to claw his face out. At that point, I couldn't read anymore... :( too messed up....
REVIEW:
Overall, I think the book was relatively well-written, although there was some rather bland dialogue. There were some beautifully written themes there though, especially one when Anton is philosiphying about life and the meaning of everything. BUT! The ending (or at least to the part where I read up to) was terrible!! It was twisted, because Patty had finally found the one person she loved, and realized she wouldn't be able to find that anywehre else, and what happens? He gets shot!! And she gets sent to a girl's reformatory to live out the rest of her miserable life. (actually, there is a sequel, about her going to see Anton's mother, but I haven't read it, and it sure as heck doesn't amount up to Anton still being alive!!) So in conclusion, I give the book a A-.

Ah, Thee never ceases to surprise me
Hey, don't mind the title. I had to think of something cool-sounding... kind of?... ahhh nevermind. Well anyway, as I was about to say, I am in dire need of help! I am a writer with nothing to write about!! Actually, I have plenty to write about, just nothing I can finish. (Harharhar) No, really. I can think of fantastic stories, but lo and behold, you find me two pages in and stuck already. :( And I want to make a movie, alas, I have no camera for that. So indeed, I am a writer in distress... I suppose I'll have to wait until fourth term, when I am joined again by Sky and Pat! Oh mai. Thats gonna be prettyyyy interesting :D

Sorry, people
I know I haven't posted any random stories for weeks. The reason behind it is because of SCHOOL! and I don't mean the kind of school where you get to run around all day having fun, I'm talkin about the school where you actually have to sit in a sterile room for 1-1.5 hours at a time.. then you're allowed about 5 minutes of free time which is mostly taken up by walking to your next class and you're forced to do something called "learn". Whatever that means. And this has been so boring, its like I'm dead for nine weeks, then I'll come back to life later. There's nothing worth writing about. :/
